Are Expat Energy's sources renewable?

Yes. We source 100% of our energy exclusively from renewable generation. So you will not support any nuclear, coal-fired, oil or gas-fired power generation! We deliver 100% green electricity for a healthy future.

What is the price of Expat Energy?

Please use the calculator. The final price depends on a range of parameters: your annual electricity consumption and geographical location are amongst the most important factors. But rest assured: we will always strive to offer the most attractive and fairest price!

How can Expat Energy offer such a low price?

This is all due to our awesome software suite! Our engineers have developed software that allows to supply our customers either with the electricity from our own green portfolio of power plants or trade very smartly on the electricity market and thus allow us to realize low prices. These savings are handed over to our customers. If you are happy so are we.

How do I terminate a contract with my former or current utility?

It is very, very simple. You just fill in the form and we take care about all the rest. No hassle for you, and of course no extra fees to pay!

Do I need to start a dedicated communication with my former utility to cancel the contract?

No, as soon as you mandate us to become your new utility, we will cancel your current contract. You will get a confirmation as soon as the former utility has processed this cancellation.

Are there any technical changes required?

The electricity meter is owned by the grid operator, who is not your former utility. As a matter of fact, we compensate the grid operator for usage of its infrastructure. The technical equipment will remain the same!

What do I need to consider in case of moving out?

When you are moving we will stay on as your utility. We are happy to serve you wherever your life takes you! The only items that we require are your new address, the new number of the electricity meter and the date of your move-in. We happily handle all the rest for you.

When do I receive my annual statement?

Roughly every 12 months we will invoice your annual energy consumption. In case something changes in the meantime, let us know and the monthly rates will be adjusted accordingly.

Will I get back money if I use less energy?

Naturally! When your actual annual consumption has been determined, we will total your monthly rates. In case that you overpaid, we will suggest reducing the monthly rate, which you may want to agree to. The surplus is offset against the following monthly rate.

Is it possible that you run out of electricity?

No, the federal law ensures that everyone in Germany may receive a basic service with electricity (“Grundversorgung”). Rest assured, you will always have electricity in your home.

When will I get the contract?

Shortly after signing up, you will receive the contract via the fastest way possible – E-mail.

Is there any minimum duration of the contract?

No. There isn’t! The contract runs for one month and will be renewed at the end of every month automatically. We believe in an absolutely fair and transparent way to serve our customers.

Does Expat Energy offer a signing bonus?

With Expat Energy you will get a great price and a totally flexible contract duration. Everything is clear and transparent! Bonuses run against transparency as they typically hide huge and uncompetitive electricity rates. Due to our commitment to transparency, we won’t lure you with such shady offers.

How do I pay my monthly rate?

Your monthly rate reflects the average consumption per month. The payment of the monthly rate is either done by direct debit (Lastschrift) or you may want to choose wiring the money directly.
